Our Mission:
To enhance, every day, the health of the people in the greater Kennebec Valley.
“Electronic prescribing is the first technology step in introducing more patient safety, quality and access at the lowest cost,” says Dan Mingle, MD, a family physician and Director of MaineGeneral’s Ambulatory EMR Project. It reduces medication errors by replacing handwritten prescriptions with secure, web-based electronic prescribing, safely, efficiently and effectively.
More than 100 of your colleagues associated with MaineGeneral are currently prescribing electronically for more than 48,000 patients in the Kennebec Valley area with a comprehensive product known as TouchWorks©. Electronic prescribing is just one element of this all encompassing medical record project we began in 2003.
Our goal is to have all 250 physicians e-prescribing either through the NEPSI product or TouchWorks. While our ultimate goal is to link all physicians in MaineGeneral’s service on one system, for many, ePrescribing may offer a first step. Our vision for the future is to have one medical chart for every patient throughout our communities—one patient, one chart.
